The committee received four reports: the equality profile of the council's workforce, the annual review of Equality Impact Assessments, the annual Welsh Language Standards report, and an update on the Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan. It noted all four reports and resolved that local leads should be identified within the organisation to drive the anti-racist plan forward.
The committee considered three items: plans to raise the profile of equalities and set up a corporate working group for the Strategic Equality Plan 2024-2028, an update on the Youth Council and Young People of Pride, and the Forward Work Programme for 2023-24. It noted the first two items and approved the Forward Work Programme.
In each case the committee resolved to note or receive the report, and members asked questions about staff training, hate crime reporting and Welsh-medium childcare.
The committee received six equalities reports covering the council's workforce, Equality Impact Assessments, the Socio-Economic Duty, equalities work in schools, and the Welsh Language Standards. It received or noted each report and recorded no other decisions.
The committee received reports on community cohesion, Welsh language work and a community forum. It agreed to adopt the All-Party Parliamentary Group's working definition of Islamophobia, which is a definition of prejudice against Muslims. The minutes record no other decisions beyond receiving or noting these reports.
