The committee considered the Director of Social Services' annual report, the draft Strategic Workforce Plan, the Corporate Plan targets, a report on ICT resilience, and nominations to a joint scrutiny committee. It deferred the annual report, made recommendations on the workforce plan and targets, and nominated three Labour members to the joint committee.
The committee considered its budget monitoring, performance, corporate self-assessment, joint scrutiny of the Public Services Board, and its forward work programme. It asked for further budget and performance information and for an update on the council's partnership on empty properties. It nominated councillors to the new Cwm Taf Morgannwg joint scrutiny committee and deferred three nominations to September.
The Committee elected Councillor Alex Williams as its Chair. It made recommendations on the 2022-23 revenue budget outturn, which showed an overall underspend of £2.057 million but an overspend in Social Services and Wellbeing. It also considered the draft Corporate Plan Delivery Plan 2023-24, nominated a Corporate Parenting Champion, noted the Cabinet's response to scrutiny recommendations on waste services, and approved its forward work programme.
It recommended that veterans be targeted for vacancies and that the time between applying for a job and starting it be reviewed. It also approved its forward work programme, subject to additions.
