The meeting opened with apologies from five councillors, and the minutes record no declarations of interest. The committee then agreed to exclude the public from the rest of the meeting, because it would discuss exempt information, meaning material the law allows councils to keep private. The published minute records no substantive decisions.
Councillors: A. Gair, W. Williams, N. George, G. Enright and E. Davies.
There were no declarations of interest.
Decision as recorded
RESOLVED that in accordance with Section 100A (4) of the Local Government Act 1972 the public be excluded from the remainder of the meeting because of the likely disclosure to them of exempt information as identified in paragraphs 12 and 14 of Part 4 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972.
Members considered the public interest test certificates from the Proper Officer and concluded that on balance the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighed the public interest in disclosing the information. By show of hands this was unanimously agreed.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
The minutes record no declarations of interest.
