Powys County Council met on 9 July 2026. It approved a Council Tax discount for self-catering properties that moved from business rates, which removes a 75% premium from backdated bills. It asked for a review of the recycling collection service and called on the Welsh Government over windfarms, and it asked for a meeting with the health board about possible cuts to hospital beds.
It also filled seats on committees and on outside bodies, such as the national park authority and the fire and rescue authority, and approved the senior salary allocations and the Members' Schedule of Remuneration.

The Council agreed in principle a five-year Medium-Term Financial Strategy and a 2026-27 budget that includes a 4.9% rise in Council Tax. It also approved the capital programme, fees and charges, and borrowing limits. Separately, it approved for publication an annual update to its Corporate and Strategic Equality Plan, with changes from 1 April 2026.
The council approved a revised policy under the Licensing Act 2003, the law that governs the sale of alcohol and some entertainment. It also appointed Ceri Ellis-Jones as an Independent (Lay) Member of the Standards Committee for six years.
