The Committee agreed to remove Early Years Intervention from its monitoring list after checking progress on earlier recommendations. It then questioned officers on children's mental health services and put forward five recommendations to officers and the Executive Member. The next meeting is on 4 December 2025.
The Joint Children & Families and Education Overview & Scrutiny Committee, a group of councillors who check the council's work, considered early years intervention in Torfaen. This covered Flying Start, a programme for eligible families, and the move from childcare into school. The committee made six recommendations, on links between childcare and school support, information for parents, recruitment, performance data, data sharing and a regional hourly rate for childcare.
