Cynhaliodd Cyngor Caerdydd ei gyfarfod ar 28 Tachwedd 2024. Etholwyd y Cynghorydd Bablin Molik yn gadeirydd ar ddechrau'r cyfarfod, a daeth ymddiheuriadau gan saith cynghorydd. Etholwyd y Cynghorydd Helen Lloyd Jones yn Arglwydd Faer a phenodwyd y Cynghorydd Michael Michael yn Ddirprwy Arglwydd Faer, y ddau am weddill blwyddyn ddinesig 2024-25.

1. Ethol Arglwydd Faer a Dirprwy Arglwydd Faer

   Dyw'r cofnodion ddim yn cofnodi penderfyniad ar yr eitem hon.

   Pam

   Arglwydd Faer yw pen seremonïol y ddinas ac mae'n cadeirio cyfarfodydd y Cyngor. Dirprwy Gadeirydd y Cyngor yw'r Dirprwy Arglwydd Faer. Cynigiodd y Cynghorydd Thomas enw'r Cynghorydd Lloyd Jones ar gyfer Arglwydd Faer, a'r Cynghorydd Lancaster yn eilio. Cynigiodd y Cynghorydd Berman enw'r Cynghorydd Michael ar gyfer Dirprwy Arglwydd Faer, a'r Cynghorydd Gibson yn eilio. Ni wnaed unrhyw enwebiadau eraill ar gyfer y naill rôl na'r llall. Yn ôl y cofnod, Sir Richard Lloyd Jones yw priod Arglwydd Faer, sef y partner sy'n mynd gydag Arglwydd Faer i ddigwyddiadau seremonïol, a Joyce Michael yw priod y Dirprwy Arglwydd Faer.

   Apologies for Absence

   RESOLVED – That Cllr Bablin Molik be elected Chair of Council until a new Lord Mayor is elected. Apologies were received from Cllrs De’Ath, Gibson, Keith Jones, Joyce, Parry, Reid-Jones and Shimmin.

   In accordance with Council Procedure Rule Paragraph 4d (i), the Monitoring Officer sought nominations to chair the meeting until a new Lord Mayor was elected. Cllr Bablin Molik was nominated by Cllr Thomas and seconded by Cllr Berman. There were no other nominations. RESOLVED – That Cllr Bablin Molik be elected Chair of Council until a new Lord Mayor is elected. Apologies were received from Cllrs De’Ath, Gibson, Keith Jones, Joyce, Parry, Reid-Jones and Shimmin.

   Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor Elect 2024 - 2025

   RESOLVED – That Cllr Helen Lloyd Jones be elected as Lord Mayor and Chairman of the County Council of the City and County of Cardiff for the remainder of the Municipal Year 2024 – 2025. The Lord Mayor was invested with her chains of office. The Chief Executive invited the Lord Mayor to sign the Declaration of Acceptance. The Lord Mayor confirmed that the Consort for the remainder of the 2024-25 civic year was Sir Richard Lloyd Jones. Deputy Lord Mayor Council received a nomination, proposed by Cllr Berman and seconded by Cllr Gibson, to the role of Deputy Lord Mayor of the City and County of Cardiff and Chair of Cardiff Council. The nomination was that Cllr Michael Michael be appointed Deputy Lord Mayor of the City and County of Cardiff and Deputy Chair of Cardiff Council for the remainder of the 2024-25 civic year. There were no other nominations. RESOLVED – That Councillor Michael Michael be appointed Deputy Lord Mayor of the City and County of Cardiff and Deputy Chair of Cardiff Council for the remainder of the Municipal Year 2024 – 2025. The Deputy Lord Mayor was invested with the chains of office. The Chief Executive invited the Deputy Lord Mayor to sign the Declaration of Acceptance. The Deputy Lord Mayor confirmed that the Consort for the remainder of the 2024-25 civic year was Joyce Michael.

Lord Mayor Council received a nomination, proposed by Cllr Thomas and seconded by Cllr Lancaster, to the role of the Rt. Hon, the Lord Mayor of the City and County of Cardiff and Chair of Cardiff Council. The nomination was that Cllr Helen Lloyd Jones be elected Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of the City and County of Cardiff and Chair of Cardiff Council for the remainder of the 2024-25 civic year. There were no other nominations.
