Director of Social Services Annual Report 2022/23
The Committee recommended that the financial modelling available to Cabinet during budget setting also be given to the Budget Research and Evaluation Panel, a panel of councillors that helps with budget discussions. This would help its work on whether the Social Services and Wellbeing budget is sufficient. It also recommended that the Committee write to the Welsh Minister for Social Services, supporting the Deputy Leader and the council's response to a Welsh Government consultation, on standard national pay, terms and conditions for social care staff. The aim is to prevent other councils 'poaching' Bridgend staff. The Committee requested an update on the progress and cost of the priority to strengthen in-house foster care and provide therapeutic support for foster carers.
