MODERNISING EDUCATION PROGRAMME UPDATE: PROPOSAL TO RECONFIGURE NURSERY PROVISION IN AMMANFORD
RESOLVED to recommend that the Cabinet approves the initiation of consultation on the proposals to: 5.1 discontinue Ammanford Nursery School; 5.2 extend the age range at Ysgol Bro Banw from 4-11 to 3-11; 5.3 extend the age range at Ysgol Gymraeg Rhydaman from 4-11 to 3-11.

Cabinet agreed to start a formal consultation on closing Ysgol Meidrim and Ysgol y Fro. It also agreed to issue a statutory notice, the formal document that starts the legal process, on closing Ysgol Llansteffan.

Cabinet agreed unanimously to proceed with publishing a statutory notice on the proposals to reconfigure nursery provision in Ammanford.

Reconfiguring nursery provision in Ammanford
Having considered the responses in the Objection Report, the Cabinet unanimously resolved to recommend to Council that the proposal go ahead as set out in the statutory notice. This means discontinuing Ammanford Nursery School and extending the age range of Ysgol Bro Banw and Ysgol Gymraeg Rhydaman to 3-11. The County Council will make the final decision on 10 June 2026.

The Council resolved to adopt the Cabinet's recommendation. It agreed to implement the proposal to discontinue Ammanford Nursery School and extend the age range of Ysgol Bro Banw and Ysgol Gymraeg Rhydaman to 3-11, after considering the responses to the statutory notice.
