Tram-train proposal from Swansea to Aberdulais
Cabinet noted the circulated report, including earlier feasibility work on tram-train and rail options in the Neath Valley. A tram-train is a vehicle that runs on both tram and main line rail tracks. Cabinet agreed that the proposal has strategic merit and possible benefits for Neath Port Talbot communities, but noted it is a long-term plan with significant cost, deliverability and regional dependency issues. Cabinet supported continued work with Transport for Wales and regional partners, and asked for a further options report within nine months. Officers will also keep seeking alternative funding to take the scheme forward.
Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
