Mid-year reviews of three service plans
The minute records no formal vote or recommendation on the three reviews. It records that the Committee asked officers for the following: the exact number of people on the temporary housing list (the Head of Housing and Communities had estimated about 470); information on whether the council can levy a council tax premium on registered social landlords; a map of council-owned public toilets; details of the Homelessness Outreach Service, to be sent to all Members with an all-Member briefing; updates on arrangements under the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol; police data on anti-social behaviour since street lights were switched off at midnight; clarity on the capital forecast, which was missing from the graph; data on fly-tipping since three-weekly bin collections began; updates on Bassaleg Bridge in the End of Year report; updates on the Burns Delivery Board recommendations and timeline; and an explanation for the removal of some bus shelters. The Head of Housing and Communities agreed that the completed multi-agency task force action could be marked as complete. The Strategic Director agreed to brief Members on the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol and the Salvation Army.

2023/24 mid-year report on Education Services
The minute records no formal decision. The Committee asked to be kept updated on Millbrook Primary School and on Fixed Penalty Notices. The Chief Education Officer agreed to provide the number of Education employees learning Welsh, more detail on the measurable outcome for using Welsh at work by March 2024, the number of Fixed Penalty Notices issued, and evidence of their effectiveness. The Committee congratulated the team on its successes.
Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
