2024-25 budget and medium-term financial projections
The Committee noted the budget proposals for the People Directorate and agreed to send the minutes to Cabinet as a summary of the issues raised. It told Cabinet that it welcomed the extra investment in additional learning needs (ALN). 2025-26 budget proposals for corporate services
The Committee agreed four comments to send to Cabinet: (1) carry out the Revenue and Benefits efficiency savings, but redeploy the staff resources freed up to other issues and better customer service; (2) reword the summary of the forms proposal to say that people can still visit the face-to-face centre to get forms; (3) create and publicise a full list of places where the public can get forms; (4) not make the Newport Matters printing saving at this current time, and consult more widely over the next 12 months, with the outcome informing a future budget decision.
Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
