At this meeting of formal council questions, Councillor Morris asked about the men's showers in the gym at the NISV, which have been out of use for about six months. The minute records no decision.
Some sentences of this summary are missing in English, because an older automatic check removed them from the English only. The Welsh version has them.
Councillor Morris asked: Please can you confirm the length of time the men’s Showers in the Gym at the NISV have been out of use. (Complainant alleges he first reported it six months ago and has raised it several times since) 1. What is the reason for the delayed repair 2. When can the public expect them back in use Councillor Spencer responded: The men’s showers (dry side) in the Regional Pool and Tennis Centre have been inaccessible for approximately six months. Unfortunately, the source of this failure has been complex to identify and resolve, requiring a number of separate interventions to ensure public safety. Newport Live has been working with Newport Norse to bring the showers back into use as soon as possible in the new year. However, there are alternative showers available within the Pool and Tennis centre.
Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
