The scheme is to remove a hydro turbine which does not perform efficiently within the inlet building and to recommission the hydro turbine within the compensation building. This includes pipework modifications and installation of a new pressure relief line which will discharge directly into the river should the pressure increase to above the operating limit of the turbine. The proposed pressure relief line will mitigate the current risk of surge.
