A decision has been made, so the council is no longer taking comments. Approved, 22 March 2024.
This application was named on the agenda of Planning Committee on 21 March 2024.
What the committee decided
Members voted to approve the outline application, subject to the applicant first signing a Section 106 agreement (a legal deal that binds the developer to certain payments and works) and to the conditions in the report. The agreement is to secure 40% affordable homes (up to 231 of 576), £1,324,800 for sustainable transport, £6,476,088 for education and transfer of a 1 hectare school site, open space, 1% of the budget for public art, £59,150 for cliff monitoring, and community facilities of 0.1 to 0.2 hectares. The vote was 12 for and 2 against; Councillors C.A. Cave and I.A.N. Perry did not vote.
Application received
The council checks the application is complete and gives it a reference number.
Consultation
The council tells neighbours and others, usually with a site notice or letters. Anyone can comment, usually within 21 days.
Decision
Most applications are decided by the council's planning officers. Larger or disputed ones go to the planning committee, where councillors decide in public.
After the decision
If permission is refused, the applicant can appeal to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales. Other people can't appeal, but can comment on an appeal.
