Council tax premium on long-term empty homes
Cabinet recommended to the full Council that an extra council tax charge, called a premium, be introduced on long-term empty homes from 1 April 2027. The premium would be 100% after one year empty, 200% after five years and 300% after ten years. Cabinet also recommended that the extra income support projects to bring empty homes back into use, increase housing supply, and cover the costs of running the premium, with an annual report on how it has helped affordable housing.

Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
