20mph speed limit roll-out in RCT: first six months

Review of the Welsh Government 20mph speed limit
The committee agreed to scrutinise the report on four matters: progress with the default 20mph limit; the outcome of the Welsh Government's national listening phase; new guidance on setting 30mph limits on restricted roads (roads with street lighting, usually in built-up areas); and the Council's review programme under that guidance. It also agreed that officers will come back to the committee after the review and consultation to report their findings.

Review of Welsh Government 20mph default speed limit
Members agreed to scrutinise the report on the list of 26 candidate roads and the proposal to revert their speed limit from the default 20mph, introduced in 2023, to 30mph. This is subject to a pre-statutory consultation and then a statutory period of Public Notice. Members noted that the Council will review all feedback before progressing the Traffic Regulation Order process, and that a further report will come to the committee after consultation.
Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
