Cau Ysgol Gynradd Rhigos: dechrau ymgynghoriad
Cabinet noted the report and gave formal approval to start a statutory consultation on closing Rhigos Primary School and extending the catchment area of Hirwaun Primary School to cover the current Rhigos catchment area. Cabinet will report back to consider the consultation report and decide whether to publish a Statutory Notice. The Director of Education and Inclusion Services was given delegated authority to make minor changes to the draft consultation document before it is published.

Proposal to close Rhigos Primary School
Cabinet noted the consultation report and the feedback from the Education and Inclusion Scrutiny Committee. It agreed to move the proposal to the next stage by issuing a Statutory Notice, which starts the objection period. Pupils would move to Hirwaun Primary School by no later than September 2024.

Cabinet agreed to note the report and the objection report, and to implement the proposal with no amendments. The school will close, with pupils transferring to Hirwaun Primary School by no later than September 2024.
