Revenue and capital budget monitoring, quarter 2 2022/23
Cabinet noted the comments, variations and material uncertainties in the report, and the actions being taken to address them. It approved budget transfers (virements) and use of the contingency fund, subject to further advice from the Section 151 Officer, the council's senior finance officer. It stressed that all directors must keep spending down, and recognised that this year overspends can only be reduced, not removed. It noted the indicative overspend, with further action to be confirmed in later quarters, and recognised that 'tough' choices will be needed to balance the 2023-24 budget.

Revenue and capital budget monitoring, second quarter 2023/24
Cabinet noted the budget position, including the uncertainty over equal pay costs, and the actions in hand. It approved budget transfers and the use of the contingency fund and inflation provision, subject to further advice from the Section 151 Officer. It asked directors to keep spending down and to produce recovery plans where they overspend, and said directorate overspends must be minimised. It noted the indicative overspend, with further action to follow once the equal pay cost is clearer.

Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
