The full Council was due to consider three notices of motion, a treasury management report, the Standards Committee's annual report, a Police and Crime Panel appointment, a review of seats for political groups and the Scrutiny annual report. No minutes have been published yet, so no decisions are recorded here. The reports recommend approving the treasury and Standards reports, filling a Plaid Cymru seat on the North Wales Police and Crime Panel, and reallocating committee seats after by-elections.
It also agreed the draft calendar of meetings for 2026/27.
The minutes record no other decisions, and the meeting was adjourned until 20 May 2026.
Wrexham County Borough Council met on 25 March 2026 and made decisions on three items. It also adopted an updated Code of Conduct for Members and approved changes to pay grades for most council staff (the NJC scale) and the 2026 Pay Statement.
The Council agreed a budget of £368,792,041 for 2026/27 and set the Band D council tax at £1,832.57. It also agreed a motion on community grit bins, filled two vacant scrutiny committee seats, and appointed Rebecca Williams as an independent member of the Standards Committee. One seat on the Investigation and Disciplinary Committee remains vacant.
It came from Councillor Mark Pritchard and concerned asylum dispersal, the system for placing asylum seekers in accommodation across the UK. The Council resolved to call on the UK Government to end the use of private agents in that system, to replace it with a publicly accountable model, and to devolve asylum accommodation to Wales. It also resolved to review its own Housing Strategy.
Full Council met on 17 December 2025. It backed a motion on an annual remembrance service for the Covid-19 bereaved, approved a new ceremonial Mayor's Cadet role, adopted the council tax reduction scheme for 2026/27 and recommended the 2024-25 self-assessment for publication. It also approved the council's response to an external performance review, after rejecting a Labour amendment, and changed committee memberships.
At its meeting on 24 September 2025, the Council conferred the Honorary Freedom of the County Borough on Phil Parkinson, approved the 2024/25 treasury management outturn, and noted the annual reports of the Governance and Audit Committee and of scrutiny (councillors checking council decisions). It also referred a motion on scrutiny to the Constitution Working Group and passed a motion calling on the health board to address parking at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
Councillors voted down an amendment to remove the third part of the motion, then resolved all three parts. The resolved motion says the existing adopted plan and national policy should guide planning decisions until Welsh Government directs withdrawal of the LDP.
It also appointed parent governors to the Lifelong Learning Scrutiny Committee, filled seats on the Executive Board (the council's cabinet), committees, scrutiny committees and panels, and agreed the meetings calendar for 2025/26. The minutes record these decisions, along with routine business such as apologies.
Councillor Jeremy Kent was appointed Deputy Mayor for the same year.
It also endorsed the Charter for Families Bereaved by Public Tragedy and agreed that the Chief Executive should sign it.
