Reaching the 70% recycling target

Path to 70% recycling performance
Cabinet noted progress on the 'Path to 70%' plan. It approved changing absorbent hygiene product collections from fortnightly to weekly from April 2026. It also approved a new kerbside collection for flexible plastics in summer 2026, ahead of the statutory requirement for councils to collect soft plastics from 1 April 2027.
