Budget principles and savings for 2025/26 and the Medium-Term Financial Plan
Cabinet agreed the budget principles for the Budget Strategy and the approach to meeting the Budget Reduction Requirement, the amount of savings needed. The Chief Executive, in consultation with the Leader and the Cabinet Member for Finance, Modernisation and Performance, was given delegated authority to implement savings before 2025/26 where no policy recommendation is needed or a policy decision has already been taken. Cabinet noted that the plan will be updated and that an update on Teachers Pensions funding will come with the Month 4 monitoring report in September 2024. Cabinet proposed that Council adopt the Budget Timetable Framework in Appendix 2. Consultation on 2025/26 budget proposals will take place when option details are available.

Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
