Housing emergency: progress report and additional proposals
The Committee agreed that the Chair would write to the Cabinet Member conveying the Committee's observations and recommendations on the way forward. The minute does not set out what those observations are. The Committee also resolved to exclude the public for part of the discussion, because it covered exempt information in the appendices.
Cabinet. The Cabinet makes most of the council's decisions.
Housing emergency: progress and additional proposals
Cabinet noted progress on the housing emergency. It approved buying the properties and land in confidential appendices B and C, and delegated authority to the Corporate Director for People and Communities, after consulting the S151 Officer (the council's senior finance officer), legal services and two Cabinet members, to exchange and complete contracts. Purchases are subject to Welsh Government grant funding, a financial viability assessment for each one, and no commitments outside the budget. It approved extending the use of hotel rooms at the Copthorne hotel for homeless families for about 12 months. It approved the Cardiff Local Housing Needs Assessment 2022-2027.
Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
