2026/27 budget update and consultation
Cabinet noted the updated budget position for 2026/27. It agreed the approach to consulting on the budget. The formal consultation starts on 8 January 2026 and runs until midnight on 1 February 2026. Cabinet will consider the results when it prepares its final 2026/27 budget proposal. The Chief Executive, as Head of Paid Service, will issue all necessary statutory and non-statutory employment consultation on the staffing effects of the proposals.

Budget consultation 2026/27
The committee agreed that the Chairperson would write to the Cabinet Member, on the committee's behalf, with its observations and recommendations on the way forward.
