The Cabinet approved the 2026/27 pay rates for the senior part-time coroner and the assistant coroner, and set the travel rate at 0.45p per mile. It revoked the £500 office expenses allowance from 1 August 2025.

Coroner and assistant coroner pay rates for 2026-27 and 2027-28
Cabinet approved a retention salary of £24,306 a year for the senior part-time coroner, plus a daily rate of £538 for 25 days a year, giving £37,756 a year before on-costs. It also approved assistant coroner fees of £458 for a full day and £229 for a half day, and travel expenses of 55 pence per mile from 1 April 2026.
