Social Care and Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee. Scrutiny committees question decisions and can recommend changes. They don't make the decision.
Social work role, profile and workforce sustainability
The committee recommended four steps to Cabinet: exploring wider partnerships with further and higher education providers; developing enough data for a five-year plan; evaluating the success of the 'grow our own' programme on retention and skills; and exploring the extra resources needed to recruit above establishment to ensure resilience.
Cabinet. The Cabinet makes most of the council's decisions.
Workforce plan for social work staffing
Cabinet approved exploring wider partnerships with further and higher education providers, and developing data to inform a five-year plan. It also approved evaluating the 'grow our own' programme and exploring extra resources to recruit above the approved staffing number. Any options needing money outside the budget will follow the usual business planning process.
Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
