Councillor Harry Saville asked Councillor Goronwy Edwards, as the portfolio holder for Infrastructure, Transport and Facilities the following question: ‘Will the Cabinet Member update Members on the expected impact of the recent Shared Prosperity Fund award to the Binfrastructure project?’ The Cabinet Member provided the following response: The UK Shared Prosperity Fund allocation would support the ongoing efforts to improve ‘on the go’ recycling opportunities by increasing the number of receptacles. The funding would also support ongoing efforts to ensure that the right bin was in the right location and that it was serviced at the correct and most efficient intervals. There were 55 units on order, scheduled for delivery in late July. The new units would be installed following the summer holidays. Additional funding had also been received which meant that further improvements could be made. In line with the protocol, Councillor Saville asked a supplementary question as follows: New public litter bins were introduced when the Binfrastrucutre project was initiated and there had been some concern from the public that the aperture was not large enough resulting in rubbish being left around the bin. Whilst there were some issues with seagulls and domestic waste, there was a need to ensure the aperture was the correct size. Was there any opportunity to consider the feedback and look at alternatives in respect of new bins? The Cabinet Member provided the following response: Bins had previously been utilised for domestic waste when apertures were larger, however, comments would be taken on board and the size of the aperture would form part of the ongoing review.

Councillors must say when they have a personal link to something being discussed, such as a job, a property or a family member. A prejudicial interest is one strong enough that the councillor usually leaves the room and takes no part.
