Care home fee rises for older people in 2025/26
The minute records that Cabinet approved fee rises on top of 2024/25 fees for older people's care homes in 2025/26: 3.8% for standard residential care, 6.6% for EMI residential care (specialist care for people with dementia), 5.9% for standard nursing care and 7.2% for EMI nursing care. Cabinet also agreed that any provider who does not accept the proposed fees will take part in a Care Cubed exercise, a data-based costing tool, to agree a fair price for their care.

Care home fee rates for 2026/27
Cabinet agreed the fee rates in Table 1 of the report, which had been communicated to providers after consultation. It agreed to automatically uplift only providers who already accept the indicative rate, and to ask providers charging above it to take part in an open book exercise (a review of their costs) using Care Cubed, a costing tool. It also agreed that from 2027/28 all care fees will be set using Care Cubed.
Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
