Social & Health Care Overview & Scrutiny Committee. Scrutiny committees question decisions and can recommend changes. They don't make the decision.
Expanding in-house fostering: Mockingbird, Lleol and special guardianship
The members supported initiatives to expand in-house general fostering, to increase local placements and reduce reliance on high-cost independent agency fostering. They endorsed the expansion of the Mockingbird scheme, and supported the Lleol initiative within Reconnect to help children move from residential care to foster placements. They also supported the plan to expand the Special Guardianship service, so more children stay with connected carers.
Cabinet. The Cabinet makes most of the council's decisions.
Expanding the in-house fostering service
That initiatives to expand in-house general fostering be approved; that the Mockingbird programme be evaluated and its expansion endorsed; that the Lleol initiative under Reconnect be supported; and that the plan to increase Special Guardianship be endorsed.
Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
