Welsh in Education Strategic Plan: call-in of Cabinet decision
The Committee voted seven to five to refer the Welsh in Education Strategic Plan decision back to Cabinet. It asked Cabinet to consider withdrawing its amendment, which tasks the Director of Education with exploring how demand for Welsh language can be better captured. The reason given was concern about the legal basis of the amended recommendation and the possible effects of a school survey on the Welsh language.

Welsh in Education Strategic Plan: reconsidered decision
Cabinet agreed to note the progress against the plan's objectives and Welsh Government's feedback on the 2023/24 annual report. It also tasked the Director of Education with exploring how the demand for school places can be better captured, focusing on the weight parents give to factors such as language preference, learning outcomes, facilities, transport and additional learning needs (ALN) provision. The motion carried, with six votes for and none against or abstaining.
Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
