Torfaen Local Development Plan (to 2021)
Adopted on 3 December 2013. It covers 2006 to 2021.
The plan period ended in 2021. The plan still applies until a new one is adopted, but parts of it may carry less weight when applications are decided.
Torfaen withdrew its own new plan in March 2026 and is writing a joint plan with Blaenau Gwent.
The main points of the plan on each topic, in plain language. Each point names the policy it comes from and links to the page. They were written automatically from the plan and checked against the words on that page, so read the policy itself before relying on one.
Figures as the plan states them, with the page they're on. Read automatically from the plan and checked against the page's own words.
From the annual monitoring report for 2025-26.
Every October each authority publishes an annual monitoring report, saying how the plan is working: for example, how many homes were built in the year against what the plan expects.
Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen Joint Local Development Plan (JLDP)
The new plan would cover 2026 to 2041.
Setting a timetable Reached in July 2026.
The authority is setting a timetable for writing a new plan, which the Welsh Government has to agree. This is called the delivery agreement, and it says when each consultation will be.
Asking for candidate sites, expected 2027
Sites the plan allocates for development, as it lists them. Having a site allocated means the authority expects it to be built on during the plan period; each one still needs planning permission.
6 sites
Applications whose location, as the planning register gives it, falls inside a site the plan sets aside for building, using the boundaries Torfaen publishes as map data. Newest first.
