Schools and education budget update
The committee asked the Executive Board to consider covering additional redundancy and additional learning needs (ALN) costs for 2026-27 through an increase to the current cash limited budget, meaning a fixed budget ceiling. It asked the Lead Member to reply promptly to its concerns about covering this year's redundancy costs, and asked for predicted 2026-27 redundancy costs to be shared when available. It asked the council administration to use more consistent messaging about school budget deficits. It agreed that variations in school licensed deficit figures be considered in more detail in a closed meeting, which the public cannot attend. The committee recognised the efforts of everyone working to manage the difficult financial position in Wrexham schools.

Schools and education budget update 2025/26
The Committee agreed that information reports on licensed deficits (a school's approved plan to spend more than its budget) will be regularly highlighted to the Executive Board. It also agreed that the Committee will receive an update on the budget position in November 2026.
Items are linked when their titles share most of their words and they fall within 18 months of each other. Councils don't number reports across meetings, so a few links may be wrong, and a step may be missing if its title changed a lot. Each step links to the meeting, where the council's own papers are.
